PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATE JOBS IN LOS ANGELES & PASADENA, CA
We are hiring.
Please note that at this time, Psychological Associates must be able to work full-time (20+ clinical hours/week) and provide in-person services in Pasadena at least 2 days/week.
Psychological Associate, Pasadena, CA
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Psychological Associate to join our team. This position is ideal for pre-licensed clinicians passionate about working collaboratively in a supportive and growth-oriented environment.
With a strong emphasis on creative and evidence-based modalities, Thrive and Feel offers an exciting opportunity for a Psychological Associate to gain hands-on experience while cultivating the skills needed to launch their own successful private practice.
Job Summary:
The Psychological Associate will provide individual, couples, and group therapy using evidence-based and creative modalities. This role also offers the opportunity to gain supervised experience in psychological and neuropsychological assessment, including participation in test administration, scoring, and report writing.
The position emphasizes providing high-quality care while supporting the associate in acquiring hours toward licensure and expanding their clinical repertoire. This role is ideal for clinicians who value collaboration, learning, creativity, and humor within a supportive, team-oriented, โstart-upโ environment.
Duties/Responsibilities
Build and maintain a caseload of therapy clients averaging 20+ scheduled clinical therapy hours per week. Because client frequency varies (e.g., some clients attend biweekly, cancel occasionally, or pause treatment), the total number of active clients exceeds the number of weekly sessions.
If participating in a psychological or neuropsychological assessment, the time spent in testing administration and scoring will count toward weekly clinical hour expectations. In these cases, the required number of therapy hours will be adjusted proportionally to reflect the time commitment of active testing cases.
Conduct consultation calls with prospective clients.
Commit to one evening and one weekend time block each week, providing a minimum of three clinical hours in each block for direct services, including psychotherapy and/or psychological test administration.
Efficiently complete administrative responsibilities associated with client care.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR), including treatment plans, progress notes, and collateral conversations.
Contribute to a supportive and collaborative team culture.
Contribute flexibly to the evolving needs of a growing and collaborative practice.
Required Skills/Abilities
Proficiency or strong interest in evidence-based modalities (e.g., DBT, ACT, EMDR, drama therapy).
Strong diagnostic, assessment, and treatment planning skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and empathy to build strong client relationships.
Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and ethical standards.
Effective time management to balance a growing caseload and documentation requirements.
Education and Experience
Completion of a doctoral degree in psychology (PhD or PsyD) or current enrollment in a license-eligible doctoral program with at least three years of completed training.
Ideal Candidates
Share Thrive and Feelโs core values of authenticity, collaboration, social justice, creativity, and humor.
Are eager to grow professionally and develop their therapeutic skills.
Have an interest in supporting and supervising undergraduate students.
Enjoy collaboration and contribute to a supportive team culture.
Have experience or interest in evidence-based practices such as DBT, ACT, EMDR, and/or the creative arts therapies.
We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences who are passionate about contributing to an inclusive and affirming clinical community.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation is structured around clinical services provided, with opportunities for additional earnings through assessments and other clinical work. The compensation model is evolving as the practice continues to grow and align with California labor guidelines.
Fee Split - Therapy: 40/60 (Clinician/Practice) fee split based on therapy session rates ranging from $150-$250 per session. The split may increase when certain revenue goals are achieved.
Fee Split - Assessment: Earnings ranging from approximately $875โ$2,100 per independently administered evaluation (depending on scope and complexity).

This is a primarily in-person role based in Pasadena, CA.
To support client demand, clinicians offer evening and/or weekend availability.
Licensure Hours: Opportunities to accrue pre-doctoral internship hours and/or Supervised Professional Experience (SPE) hours toward licensure, including hours for direct client contact, supervision, case management, documentation, training, and didactics.
