EMDR in California

Hi, Iโ€™m Lisa. I work with adults that feel stuck in cycles of emotional dysregulation. My approach focuses on stopping the exhausting cycle of overwhelm by creating safety, uncovering the deeper patterns that drive distress, and supporting meaningful change.

I work with adults and couples that struggle with overwhelm and difficulty regulating emotions. I weave EMDR with somatic approaches, Polyvagal techniques, and psychodynamic psychotherapy to build safety, interrupt old patterns, and create healthier ways of relating.

I am EMDR certified, EMDRIA approved EMDR consultant, and certified in Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy. I am also trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples, sex therapy, and hold an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher credential (E-RYT 200).

So, enough about me. If you would like to see if we are a good fit or want to get started with virtual therapy, schedule a free 15 minute phone or video consultation. I look forward to meeting you.

3 Reasons To Work with Lisa

Emotional Regulation

I am an expert in helping adults break free from cycles of emotional dysregulation, and I do not say that lightly. I have invested years in advanced training, countless hours in consultation, and worked with many clients navigating the exhaustion of overwhelm and emotional activation. As an EMDR certified therapist, EMDRIA-approved consultant, and certified in Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy, I integrate EMDR with somatic and Polyvagal approaches to stop old patterns at their root and support real change. If you are struggling with dysregulation, burnout, or the impact of trauma, and are seeking EMDR therapy in Los Angeles or trauma therapy in California, I can help.

Intimacy & Emotional Connection

I specialize in helping couples improve communication, rebuild intimacy, and work through sexual concerns such as desire discrepancy and loss of passion. I have completed advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, sex therapy, and psychodynamic psychotherapy, which allows me to address both the immediate struggles couples face and the deeper relational dynamics that keep them disconnected. In our work together, you and your partner will learn how to break negative cycles, strengthen your emotional and physical bond, and create a relationship that feels safer, more intimate, and more fulfilling. If you are searching for couples therapy in Los Angeles or sex therapy in California, I can help.

Testing

Maybe youโ€™ve felt misunderstood by others and wondered about Autism, or perhaps you find your mind wandering and youโ€™re never quite able to finish a task. Time and time again, youโ€™ve asked yourself this same question, yet youโ€™re almost certain you know the answer.
If youโ€™re searching for someone that understands your unique experience, Iโ€™ve been there.
If you have ever considered that you may be neurodivergent, if youโ€™ve struggled with focus or impulsivity; if youโ€™ve felt like you never quite fit in or experienced sensory overload or exhaustion from over stimulation, youโ€™ve come to the right place. Schedule a consultation, and letโ€™s talk about neurodivergent- affirming assessment.

About Virtual Therapy

Is Virtual therapy effective

I am often asked, does virtual therapy work? Even though itโ€™s been around for over three decades, research on its effectiveness didnโ€™t really gain traction until recently. While my own experience as a therapist has shown me just how powerful virtual therapy can be, I also believe in the importance of research. The good news is that research backs this up, with a recent study finding that virtual therapy resulted in comparable symptom reduction to in person therapy, and these benefits also remained consistent at follow up visits (Lin et al., 2022).
